“If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart.” - Nelson Mandela
Hi! I'm Ethan Samuels.
I'm a senior at Kent Denver School in Denver, Colorado, with a passion for global education, international development, and community engagement.
I like building things, especially things that bring people together. Sometimes that’s a robot or an a cappella arrangement. Sometimes it’s a digital literacy course or a club.
My interest in connecting people across cultures has shaped much of my work, from researching educational exchange between the United States and East Africa as an intern at the Global Livingston Institute to teaching English and digital literacy to refugees and immigrants at Project Worthmore. Through these experiences, I’ve developed an interest in how education, language, and cross-cultural understanding can help build more inclusive communities.
At school, I serve as Senior Class President and co-lead the Rwanda and Tanzania clubs. I am also on the debate team, where I build arguments as a Public Forum debater and mentor novice students. I sing with the a cappella group I co-founded, and rack up points with my doubles partner on the tennis court. I even helped open a new Little Man Ice Cream store, which may be my most delicious project yet.
When it comes to what I will build next, I’m drawn to Africa and hope to study more about its countries, people, and cultures in college. Above all, I’m driven by curiosity, meaningful connection, and a belief that humans have much to learn from perspectives beyond our own.
